28 October 2014 BBVA Foundation assists Researchers, Innovators & Cultural Creators

Prof. Leticia Tarruell receives highly competitive grant. In this first edition of BBVA Foundation Grants for Researchers, Innovators, and Cultural Creators, 1,664 applicants competed for 56 grants in 10 fields of science and culture. These grants aim to offer financial assistance to applicants in an intermediate career stage over a wide range of scientific fields and artistic and cultural creation.

The rigorous selection process included a review by 10 expert committees, who created a shortlist of candidates. These pre-selected candidates where then reviewed by a general committee consisting of an expert from the three major areas (research, innovation, and culture) as well as the Director of the BBVA Foundation. The allocation of the 56 grants was highly competitive, with only a 3.3% success rate.

We congratulate Prof. Leticia Tarruell, leader of the Ultracold quantum gases research group at ICFO, for being one of the scientists to receive funding.

Congratulations Leticia!
