New ICFOnians

Seven ICFOnians joined the different ICFO research groups, units and facilities during the month of May. Welcome aboard!

June 04, 2021

Three postdoctoral researchers, one PhD student, two visiting PhD students, and one student have joined ICFO during the month of May.

Luis Trigo Vidarte, who holds a PhD in Physics from the Université Paris-Saclay, France, joins ICFO as a postdoctoral researcher in the Optolectronics research group led by ICREA Prof Dr Valerio Pruneri. His work will focus on a photonic processor inspired by quantum mechanics.

Donato Farina received his PhD in Nanoscience from the Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa and joins the Quantum Information Theory group led by ICREA Prof Dr Antonio Acín as a postdoctoral researcher. He will be focusing his research on quantum information theory and many-body systems.

Adam Valles Maridefended his PhD at ICFO in the Quantum Engineering of Light group led by Prof Dr Juan P. Torres in 2017. He comes back to ICFO to continue his research in the Optoelectronics research group led by ICREA Prof Dr Valerio Pruneri. His work will focus on quantum tech for industry.

Yina Wu, who holds a MSc in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Xiamen University, China, joins ICFO as a PhD student in the Nanophotonics Theory research group led ICREA Prof Dr Javier García de Abajo. She will be focusing her work on various aspects of nanophotonics theory.

Nicholas Cox, who is pursuing a PhD in Optics in Photonics at University of Central Florida, joins ICFO as a Visiting PhD student in the Attoscience and Ultrafast Optics research group led by ICREA Prof Dr Jens Biegert. His work will focus on high harmonic spectroscopy and bandstructure tomography.

Sara de Vicentiis, who holds a Master degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Pisa, Italy, joins ICFO as a visiting PhD student in the Neurophotonics and Mechanical Systems Biology research group led by Prof Dr Michael Krieg. She will be focusing her research on primary cell culture, stretch growth of C elegans neurons and calcium imaging of the forcetransduction.

Joshua Arens, who is working towards a Master of Multidisciplinary Research in Experimental Sciences from the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), joins ICFO as a student in the CO2 Mitigation Accelerated by Photons research group led by Dr F. Pelayo García de Arquer.
