Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND actions at ICFO

ICFOstepstone programs draws 45 doctoral students.

July 29, 2019
In 2016, ICFO was awarded highly competitive funding for two doctoral fellowship programs via the European Commission´s Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND action. Overall these two projects, entitled ICFOstepstone, provide funding for up to 45 fellowships between 2016 and 2022, allowing the institute to attract excellent doctoral candidates from around the globe to participate in ICFO research initiatives.

Today, all 45 doctoral positions have been filled with excellent candidates for the ICFO’s International PhD program. Six students have just begin their studies, while others who joined the institute through the earliest calls are preparing their theses.

In April of this year, ICFO was awarded another COFUND program, called ENLIGHTEN, that will allow ICFO to continue enhancing the quality and impact of our PhD program, and maintain our ability to attract the best candidates worldwide to our program. Through ENLIGHTEN, ICFO will offer 20 highly competitive fellowships of 36 months duration, through 4 calls, to outstanding international candidates. The first call has just been launched and offers up to 5 fellowships.
