New ICFOnians

Ten new ICFOnians joined the different ICFO research groups, units and facilities during the month of January. Welcome aboard!

February 08, 2019
Four postdoctoral researchers, two PhD students, one research engineer, two visiting PhD students and one member of administration have joined ICFO during the month of January.

Roshan Krishna Kumar, who holds a 2017 PhD from Lancaster University, UK, is coming to ICFO as a postdoctoral researcher at the Quantum Nano-Optoelectronics research group led by ICREA prof. at ICFO Frank Koppens. At ICFO he will be working on nano- photonics with 2D material heterostructures.

Debraj Rakshit, who obtained a 2013 PhD from Washington State University, US, is coming to ICFO to join the Quantum Optics Theory research group led by ICREA Prof. at ICFO Maciej Lewenstein as a postdoctoral researcher. His position will allow him to work on the theory of quantum droplets.

Joeri De Valença holds a Ph.D. from University Twente, Netherlands, and is now joining the Single Molecule Biophotonics research group led by ICREA prof. at ICFO Maria Garcia-Parajo as a postdoctoral researcher. His main tasks will involve working on the implementation of a multicolour single molecule localisation set-up.

Paul Seifert, who holds a 2019 PhD from Technical University Munich, Germany, is coming to ICFO as a postdoctoral researcher at the Low-Dimensional Quantum Materials research group led by ICFO prof. Dmitri Efetov. At ICFO he will be working on the 2D-SIPC project of the Quantum Flagship, working on single photon detection with 2D superconductor.

Lukas Michael Heller, who obtained an MSc in Physics, is coming to ICFO to join the Quantum Photonics with Solids and Atoms research group led by ICREA Prof. at ICFO Hugues de Riedmatten as a PhD Student. His position will allow him to work on hybrid atomic solid-state system.

Jonatan Hoeschele holds a 2017 MSc in Photonic Engineering from University of Stuttgart, Germany, and is now joining the Ultracold Quantum Gases research group led by ICFO prof. Leticia Tarruell as a PhD student. His main tasks will involve working on a new experimental apparatus for the study of highly controlled ordered arrays of ultracold strontium atoms.

Núria Campos, who holds a 2015 PhD from Universidad de Oviedo, is coming to ICFO as a research engineer at the Quantum Nano-Optoelectronics research group led by ICREA prof. at ICFO Frank Koppens. At ICFO she will be working on graphene growth for graphene-based image sensors.

Radoslaw Gora, who is pursuing a PhD at the Leiden University, Netherlands, is coming to ICFO to join the SLN Facility group led by ICFO Prof. Pablo Loza as a visiting PhD student. His position will allow him to work on single molecule imaging in zebrafish.

Roberto Tricarico is working towards a PhD degree at the University of Naples Federico II, Italy, and is now joining the Theoretical Quantum-Nano Photonics research group led by ICREA prof. at ICFO Darrick Chang as a visiting PhD student. His main task is to investigate the structuring of 2D TMDC materials supporting excitons.

Elena Nolla Sabater is coming to ICFO as a Human Resources and Education support.
