Electron microscope spectroscopies

Electron microscopes can produce information on the optical response of materials with Angstrom resolution via the analysis of electron energy loss spectra (EELS) or emitted cathodoluminescence.

We develop theoretical tools to interpret experimental data for increasingly complex samples, and in particular, we envision these spectroscopies as a means of unveiling new fundamental phenomena involving photons and nanostructures. We also intend to propose new experimental techniques combining electrons and photons based upon realistic simulations.
